There’s so much going on during the holidays that it might feel like you’re in a lull by the new year. But don’t worry; Virginia Beach has tons of great options for things to do in February. And with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, why not celebrate love all month? Whether you’re looking for a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day or something unique to do, we’ve got you covered.
Check out some of our favorite things to do this month in Virginia Beach.
1) Get pampered at a local spa
When was the last time you went for a bit of self-care? Well, this month is the perfect time to do a little self-indulgence. And why not treat yourself and your partner?
Check out Hand & Stone Virginia Beach for an indulgent, luxurious experience. They offer a classic couples massage. It’s the perfect way to spend some relaxing time together. The spa specializes in unique occasion treatments, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Or head over to SeaHill Spa for several couples special options, including the “time together” package. It includes an exfoliating body scrub followed by a warm mineral soak with your partner. You’ll then receive a side-by-side massage utilizing an aromatherapy scent.
You might also want to opt for the unique “tarnished truth bourbon scrub treatment (don’t let the name scare you!). This treatment features an in-house distilled, bourbon-infused soak, scrub and lotion application. No matter your choice, we know one of these blissful spa treatments will get you out of those winter blues and into a loving mood.
2) Go Whale Watching
It may be a little too cold to head to the beach, but it’s the perfect time to take advantage of one of the best parts of Virginia Beach life – whale watching! December through March is the best time to see humpbacks as they migrate through the area.
Head to the beach to hear their beautiful songs and see their bubble-feeding nets. And while there’s no guarantee you’ll see these dynamic creatures, many reports show around a 90% success rate in spotting them!
It’s a perfect activity for date night or the whole family. Just make sure to bundle up before venturing out!
3) Discover local wine
If you’re looking for a full-day activity, why not check out one of our local wineries?
Check out Mermaid Winery on Shore Drive. It’s the state’s first urban winery. Of course, they make their own wine, but they also have over 800 wines from around the world to sample. Check out their flights to sample great selections. They offer a white, red and sweet flight and their special “Mermaid flight,” which features a sampling of local wines. Make sure you check out their food options, too. They offer great lighter fare like salads, sandwiches, and appetizers.
You can also check out The Coastal Virginia Wine Festival will be located at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. It runs Sat. Feb. 6 from noon to 6 pm and Sun. Feb. 7 from noon to 5 pm. The festival is full of local vendors, so you’ll be able to sip the best local wines. Vendors will also serve food and arts and crafts, so they’ll be something for everyone! Head to their website to snag your ticket.
